From “Leila Brothers” Movie to Frankly Movies

Iran’s cinema and theater news during Nowruz holiday was on the hot line of the release of the version of “Leila Brothers” by Saeed Raushi a controversial product and the broadcast of several films of the Fajr festival before the general release on TV.

According to the report of  Boraq Hamim Art news website , on the pretext of the end of Nowruz holidays in the cinema and theater department, we have a review of the news that we have published these days.

On Tuesday, the first of Farvardin, it was reported that “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter” actor Paul Grant died at the age of 56 due to an accident in the London subway.

The producer of the movie “High Power” believes that the TV show of the art films of Fajr festival before the general release, the preparation and financial justification for the cinematographic screening and promotion of the film will face problems. 

And on Thursday, the third of Farvardin, the news came that the long documentary “A lone” directed by Jafar Najafi, was nominated to receive an award from the 38th edition of the Munich Documentary Festival in Germany.

And on Farvardin 4, we published news that the Paramount Art Company plans to bring a new version of the famous movie “Vertigo” by Alfred Hitchcock to the cinema, and a Hollywood actor is considered for the main role.

On the 5th of Farvardin, a report on the global appearances of Iranian cinema in the past solar year was published in the cinema department.

In 1401, Iranian cinema went through many ups and downs in terms of attracting audiences, sales and domestic screenings, but according to experts, it has had successful international appearances.

And on the same day, official news was published about the performance of Siavash Tahmurt’s “Battle in Battle”.

After 30 years of its first performance, the play “Battle in Battle” directed by Siavash Tahmworth will be staged on Tuesday, the 15th of Farvardin, in Iranshahr’s Iranshahr Theater Hall.

We also published news about the show “Mantko in the Kingdom of the Kingdom” directed by Mehdi Khajestegi, which was staged on the 7th of Farvardin in Hall of Art.

On Farvardin 5, 1402, the news arrived that “Shahrbanu” by Maryam Bahrul Uloomi, in her latest international appearance, has entered the competition section of the 14th Bangalore International Film Festival.

And on the occasion of the birthday of Khosrow Hakim, who is known as Khosrow of Iran’s playwriting, and on the 6th of Farvardin, we had this report that the movie of which heroes will be made?

And we wrote that “a part of the cinema of any country is related to its history. The imposed eight-year war is also a part of our history, and a group of our films under the title “Cinema of Sacred Defense” is related to it. However, there has always been a criticism that the relevant institutions have not produced works for prominent figures of the war as they should. Now there are news that this situation is going to be repaired by making new works.

On the same day, we put pen to paper and wrote for Khosrow Shakibaei’s birthday, which we commemorate every year in his absence on the 7th of Farvardin.

And on Farvardin 6th, the news arrived that “World War III” by Hooman Sidi was selected in the 37th “Friburg” film festival in Switzerland, following its global success.

And also the short animation “Before Heaven” entered the 18th edition of the International Die Chiminotti Festival in Italy.

And on this day, the Performing Arts Center published the National Performing Arts Day programs.

And in the same days that was accompanied by the news of Ahmad Samii Gilani’s death, the Center for the Development of Documentary and Experimental Cinema published news about the documentary of this Iranian translator, editor and writer and a permanent member of the Persian Language and Literature Academy who died on Farvardin 2.

And on Farvardin 7, Ismail Khalaj’s message was published for World Theater Day.

Ismail Khalaj, the Iranian playwright and director, in a message, congratulated the people of this arena on World Theater Day and National Performing Arts Day, which coincides with the seventh day of spring.

Also, Kazem Nazari, Director General of Performing Arts, blessed the seventh day of nature’s spring, which coincides with World Theater Day and National Day of Performing Arts.

And on the 7th day of Farvardin at the same time as World Theater Day, we wrote that every year one of the world’s famous artists publishes a message on the occasion of this day and talks about the blessings of theater for people’s lives.

This year, on this special day, we thought it better to remind one of the wishes of Ali Nasiryan as one of the great artists of our country, along with all the messages that are published. A wish that fits both the World Theater Day and our ancient Nowruz.

On the same day, the news came that Amin Zangdhani and Banipal Shomon will come on stage with the musical “Heft Khan Esfandiar” directed by Hossein Parsaei.

And we also published this news on the same day that the beginning of Kanon shows coincides with World Theater Day.

And on Farvardin 8, Iraj Rad, the head of the board of directors of the theater, announced in an exclusive conversation with ISNA that this cultural and artistic organization demands more than one billion tomans.

And on the same day, other actors of “Seven Khan Esfandiar” were introduced; Fariba Kothari and Amirreza Delavari are the other actors of the musical show “Heft Khan Esfandiar” directed by Hossein Parsaei. The actors and the executive team of the show “Forgotten” were also introduced.

And also, in the celebration of the World Theater Day and the National Day of Performing Arts in the Sangalj Art Hall and Theater, the audience of the theater was honored as the main assets of this art. On the same day, the organizers of the Venice Film Festival A director and an actor were announced as recipients of the 2023 Golden Lion Honorary Award. But Noor Mohammad Zulfiqari, a veteran actor of cinema and television, also passed away, the news of which was broadcast on Farvardin 8. 

While the release of the illegal version of the movie “Leila Brothers” by Saeed Raushi happened a few days before the new year, but the margins and comments about the content of the movie brought a heated discussion in the virtual space during the Nowruz holidays.

Before the holidays, we wrote that the ten-month case of Leila and her brothers was completed.

And on the 8th of Farvardin, the film organization wrote in a text that it provided to the media: The license to make the film “Leila Brothers” was issued by the previous government/the film was released without a screening license.

And on the 9th of Farvardin, the union association of Iranian cinema planners and assistant directors officially announced the minimum wage for the members of this association for 1402.

And the news arrived that the filming of the documentary “Fire and Golestan” produced by the Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animation Cinema directed by Ali Royinton continues.

Also, the Cinema Organization announced that “Iranian cinema managed to break the record of the number of daily audiences after six and a half months.

The General Department of Public Relations of the Cinema Organization wrote in a news release: “Iranian cinema managed to break the daily audience record by attracting 129,400 viewers last Tuesday, the eighth of Farvardin.” The last time cinemas were able to experience more than this amount of daily audience was on 22 September last year, when 177 thousand people visited the cinema.

And the next day, we published a short analysis by Iranian cinema expert Amir Hossein Alamulhodi stating: “Cinema needs fresh air and the variety of themes in the screen can make cinema more prosperous than in 1401.”

On the 10th of Farrudu, the news came that Manouchehr (Mohammed Ali) Jamalipour, the old cinematographer of Iran, passed away.  

Jamalipour, the photographer of old films of Iranian cinema, who was born on 6 Shahrivar 1319 in Tehran, died on Tuesday (8 Farudin) in Tehran.  

Jamalipour started cinematography in 1348, and his career includes films such as Ghorbtiha (1356), Tangna (1352), Khurshid Dar Mardab (1352), Baba Nan Dad (1351), Shahr Aftab (1351), Shir Tushir (1351) and Qadir (1351) can be seen.

And the documentary “Iran Khanum’s Wife” directed by Marjan Khosravi Baldi entered the Canadian Hot Dog Festival.

Meisham Yousefi, who performed a show for earthquake-affected children during Nowruz, on Farvardin 11, in an interview where he said that the happiness of these children meant the world to me.

And the other news that we published on Farvardin 11 was that the productions of Saeed Raushi, Homan Sidi, Mani Haghighi and Azadeh Mousavi are present in two festivals being held in Hong Kong and new directors/new films in New York. 

One of the hot and controversial news of the past holidays, as we mentioned earlier, was the showing of several films of the recent Fajr Festival on Nowruz days, the most important of which was “Number 10” directed by Hamid Zargrenjad, and produced by Ebrahim Asghari, even in a letter. A week before the screening, he asked the head of the Broadcasting Organization to stop the screening of this film until after the general release in cinemas, which of course did not happen and the television aired the film.

“Number 10”, which was present at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival, won the Crystal Simorgh Award in four categories: Best Actor, Best Soundtrack, Best Makeup, and Best Stage Design, with 11 nominations. 

“Hook” by Hossein Rigi was also aired at an inappropriate time, and on the other hand, when the news came that “Storm Boys” which is currently showing in cinemas, is going to be aired on TV, its director tried to prevent the airing of his film. and announced in an interview that he has stopped its broadcast.

Ebrahim Asghari, the producer of “Number 10”, has not made a new comment about this issue at the moment.

On the 12th of Farvardin, under the pretext of Jamshid Mashayikhi’s death anniversary, we wrote that this actor was thinking about the unemployment of his colleagues in the hospital bed and was sorry that sometimes we don’t even have time for constructive criticism.

Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, whose birthday is tomorrow, Farvardin 14, said many years ago: I wish there was a basic copy of my films and I wish we had this awareness before the laboratories were closed and made a higher quality copy of the films.
