Translation of the text of the Clairvoyants competition
Each book is a unique world.
We are committed to ensuring that the worlds children encounter in books are the best possible worlds: beautiful, engaging and in every way worthy of discovery. We seek to find these worlds and support creators who have the vision and skill to bring them to life. Therefore, we once again invite authors, illustrators, graphic designers and all book lovers from Poland and abroad to participate in the international competition for the Clairvoyants children’s picture book project! participate
This is the fifth edition of this competition.
More than 2,600 works from all over the world have been sent to the previous four courses! More books based on selected projects can be found on bookstore shelves now, and we are collaborating with other Clairvoyant participants on new and upcoming books.
After each round of CLAIRVOYANTS, the most compelling works are collected to create a post-competition exhibition.
The exhibitions of the previous three periods have traveled all over Poland and have been displayed in many schools, libraries and cultural institutions.
The aim of the competition is to inspire the creation of new and valuable children’s books, as well as to provide opportunities for talented designers, illustrators and writers to enter the publishing market.
We support the development of thoughtful, well-crafted book projects for young readers and offer a real opportunity for these books to be published. Participants must demonstrate creativity, skill, sensitivity and understanding of the children’s world. This contest is primarily for book designers, art school students, illustrators, and writers, but we invite everyone to try their luck!
How will the fifth round of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition be?
We invite beginners and experienced artists from Poland and abroad to participate in this competition individually or as a team. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
The purpose of this competition is to prepare a project (draft) of a children’s picture book in Polish or English. The submitted work must include a storyboard or a script of the entire book, along with 3 finished spreads and a summary in English (mandatory) and in Polish (only if the entire project is in Polish).
The fourth edition of the competition, which coincided with the corona pandemic, was held entirely online and resulted in a record number of submissions – we received 1,063 projects from 76 countries.
For the fifth edition, we have decided to continue with the digital format developed at that time. Again, we only accept contest entries digitally.
The deadline for submitting works is October 15, 2024. To participate in the contest, you must:
● Fill the online application form available on the competition website
and
● Upload the digital files containing the competition project in the online application form or put a direct link to the files in the form from which the files can be downloaded.
We do not accept applications sent by traditional mail. Contest entries should only be submitted as digital files.
The application process is explained in detail in the frequently asked questions section of the website.
Submitted works are evaluated by two independent juries:
● International Jury: German comic book and illustrator Anke Kohl, Ukrainian graphic artist and writer Andriy Lessio (a duo member of Agrafka art studio), and Polish graphic artists and book creators Aleksandra Cieslak and Tomasz Broda.
● Jury of Dwie Siostry Publications: Eva Stiasny, Jedwiga Yndrias, Masij Biliniak.
Submitted projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria: artistic quality, originality, form that inspires a child’s imagination, and content that is sensitive to a child’s sensitivity.
Participants can receive three different prizes:
● The main prize of 2500 euros and two certificates of appreciation – by the international jury.
● Book publication – by the jury of Dwie Siostry Publications.
● Admission to the exhibition after the race.
The results of the competition will be announced on December 6, 2024, at the final event with the presence of the judges and on the website of the competition.
