People’s clothing is one of the most important elements of knowing the culture of each region, which these days are less addressed due to the change in the style of people’s clothing. However, Balochi clothing can be considered an exception because the local people still adhere to the use of their local clothing and because of the decorations that these clothes have, the market for buying and selling them among tourists, clothing designers and those who are eager to wear Clothes with original decorations such as “needle embroidery” are hot.
Boraq Hamim’s artistic news site , “needle embroidery” is the most important element that distinguishes Balochi clothing from other local clothes of our country, which, in addition to being able to maintain the popularity of these clothes even among the new generation, has also spread to other countries. As Tahereh Shahraki, a costume designer, believes: “The Indian sari dress that we see now in the Indian subcontinent is a clear example of fashion and clothing that was used 5,000 years ago in Sistan and Baluchistan province and in the city of Sokhte.”
With these interpretations, the situation of Balochi local clothes may be better than other local clothes and we cannot attribute the adjective “forgotten” to them, but on the other hand, this needlework has been caused due to the precision and elegance that must be done during its execution. that Balochi clothes are among the expensive clothes that maybe not all people have the ability to buy it and we see wearing it among a certain group of people.

Men’s clothing
A cap is an important part of Baloch men’s clothing. A group of Baloch men wearing a round turban called “pak” or “pag”. This turban is a fabric about 10 meters long and half a meter wide, one side of which is hung from the back of the head to around the waist and the shorter side is supported like a crown on top of the turban in Lai Pak.
Another group uses Masar, which is a kind of headscarf, to cover their head and wear it like a turban. “Soupy hat” is also a type of sweat that men wear in the mosque and during worship. Baloch men also use “chekendoz” which is a type of hand-embroidered hat for celebrations or other noble events. Balochi hats are often made of cotton with delicate silk or cotton embroidery and with floral or geometric designs, and sometimes small mirrors or needlework are used to decorate it.
Baloch men wear Ganj Prak under their main shirt. “Jamg” is the name of Baloch men’s shirt; A long-sleeved, wide shirt with a turn-down collar, which has two relatively long slits on both sides. Another type of men’s shirt is called “Kurte” or “Chartke”. In the past, the length of this shirt was up to the knee, but now its length continues to about 10 to 15 cm below the knee. Some men wear a “lang” which is a rectangular cloth over the shower. This cloth has daily use and sometimes it is used instead of a towel or even a place for prayer. For the cold seasons of the year, they usually wear a woolen coat over this cover.
“Pajamak” is the name of Baloch men’s pants; Wide and pleated pants that are fastened on the waist with a “serinband” which is a fabric belt. Usually, wealthy people sew trousers very wide, so that sometimes more than 20 meters of fabric are needed to sew them.
Baloch men wear different types of shoes; “Katuk” is the name of one of men’s clogs, the bottom of which is made of wood and has wool straps. The tips of these shoes are turned upwards to make walking easier according to the people. “Suas” or “poza” is also a shoe that is woven with wild palm leaves. Also, “dubandeh” is a shoe made of cowhide.
Women’s clothing
Although the type of design and sewing of Balochi women’s and men’s clothes do not have many differences, one of the most important signs of Baloch women’s clothing is its high color diversity. Women also wear “jamag” and “pajamag”, with the difference that their clothes are sewn more elegantly and have even more decorations, including needlework and mirror embroidery. Another thing that differentiates men’s and women’s clothes is the pocket of the clothes, which itself becomes a symbol. In fact, according to the Baloch people, the big pocket is a symbol for the courage and bravery of Baloch women.
In addition to the mentioned items that constitute the main part of women’s clothing, women wear “teko” a type of charqad and “serig” a type of scarf larger than the charqad. Women also wear a two-piece veil that covers the smaller piece from the left shoulder to the bottom of the waist, and the length of the larger piece continues to the bottom of the leg. Women use “Gashan Chador” at home. This tent is smaller, shorter and rectangular and covers the back of the waist.
Ornaments including earrings, sequins, poloh, keg, por (small chest), kid, headscarf, and headscarf are also an important part of Baloch women’s clothing, which they use depending on their level of well-being.
There are many tribes living in the Baluchistan region, which may look the same to those who are not familiar with these clothes, but the shape and structure of the clothes and pants show the differences, and the type of clothing and sewing of the people of different cities of Balochistan shows that the person Which city, region or Baloch tribe does he belong to?
