According to Boraq Hamimim art news site , Ali Mohammad Moadeb, Assistant Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Poetry, confirmed this news and said: Three years ago, due to the spread of the Corona virus in the country, the people of Shaer were denied a meeting with the supreme leader of the revolution. And unfortunately, this meeting was not held in the last three years; But fortunately, this year, with the improvement of the situation of the Corona epidemic, the conditions for holding this meeting have been provided.
The Supreme Leader has a special interest and attention to literature and poetry, and since his presidency and more widely since assuming the responsibility of the leadership of the Islamic Revolution, he has had numerous and blessed meetings with poets and writers, which have been accompanied by more enthusiasm and welcome every year. The last meeting of the poets with the leader of the revolution dates back to 2018.
Tonight, the 16th of April, after sunset and breaking the fast, on the occasion of the holy birthday of Ahl al-Bayt, Imam Hassan (a.s.), the Supreme Leader, will meet with the poets.
This meeting will be held with the presence of a group of young and old poets from all over the country.
A look at the history of these meetings
A brief search in the virtual space is enough to find several pages about the history of the establishment of annual poets’ literary meetings with leadership; A gathering whose establishment is not limited to the last two decades and has its roots in the years before the victory of the Islamic Revolution; At that time, due to the serious presence of the leadership in the fight against Pahlavi, they followed their literary interests as much as possible in Mashhad and Tehran.
These occasional meetings of the leadership took a more serious form after the victory of the revolution and during his presidency in the form of holding literary meetings. Since the second term of his presidency, the supreme leader used to dedicate a night to meet the poets of Mashhad during the days of Nowruz, and this tradition is still in place. And sometimes it was held at his father’s house near Mashhad’s Sarshor market, I participated; Mr. Agha attended the meeting with all his heart and most actively and managed the meeting himself.”
Finally, these meetings turned into a gathering that hosts a group of poets and writers of our country every year in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan with the presence of the Supreme Leader. The meetings that started in Mashhad in the sixties and finally came to be hosted in the capital. Leaving aside a brief reference to the history of the establishment of these meetings, people of literature consider one of the results of the establishment of these literary meetings to be the proposal of guidelines and solutions by the leadership to elevate the poetry and literature of our country as much as possible. The poets who get an opportunity to attend this annual literary gathering are not limited to only Iranian writers, conditions have been provided for representatives from the geography of Persian language and literature, such as Afghanistan and Tajikistan, to participate in these meetings. Akhlaq Ahmed Ahan, a Hindustani poet, was one of the poets present at the meeting in 2016; After reading a ghazal, he sent greetings to the Persian speakers of his homeland to the leader, and they said in response: “Give our greetings to the Persian-speaking professors and Persian-learners and tell them that we feel brotherhood with the Persians of Guyana and the Persian-speakers of India.” And this does not belong to yesterday and today, it belongs to centuries”. Paying attention to the necessities and needs of the society in literary activities is another axis that the leaders emphasize in these poetry meetings; As he emphasized in 2014: “We are responsible for the issues of the country and society. The great and historical movement of the Islamic revolution and confronting the oppressors of the world should be reflected in poetry. Our eight-year military jihad was not a small matter. Also, the jihad to build the Islamic society, the jihad to strengthen the national power, and even the jihad to reform the lifestyle, which we said is the text of Islamic civilization. It is very important to pay attention to history and contemporary issues, today the issue of Islamic awakening, the issue of Palestine and other current issues of the Islamic world should have a share in the poems.
Apart from the few points mentioned in this report, the good news is that in Ramadan this year, a new opportunity has been provided for poets to meet with the leader of the revolution. Necessities arising from health protocols to contain the corona pandemic, like many cultural and literary circles, also caused the temporary cancellation of the meetings of our country’s poets with the Supreme Leader.
