According to the art news site Boraq Hamim , Oscar and Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and actress Lady Gaga is set to star in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada 2. Gaga was reportedly spotted in Milan after a four-night sell-out performance at London’s O2 Arena, where the sequel to the hit film is currently being filmed. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” marks Gaga’s first film appearance since “Joker: Folie à Deux . ” She also had a cameo in the hit Netflix series Wednesday earlier this year .
The original 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada, was based on the best-selling novel by Lauren Weisberger and starred Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt , and Stanley Tucci , becoming a classic in the social and fashion comedy genre. The original story followed a young reporter named Andy Sachs (played by Hathaway) who is hired as an assistant editor at the powerful fashion magazine Runway (played by Streep), a character inspired by the famous editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour.
In the new sequel, Reportedly follows Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she struggles to find a new way to maintain her professional power amid the decline of the print industry and the crisis of traditional media. Along the way, she encounters her former assistant, Emily (Emily Blunt), now the CEO of a major fashion brand. This competitive confrontation between two powerful women in the fashion world will be told against the backdrop of global changes in the fashion and media industries.
David Frankel (director) and Eileen Brosch McKenna (original screenwriter) return to direct and write the project, with Karen Rosenfelt producing. In addition to the original cast, Kenneth Branagh (as Miranda’s husband), Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet , and Simon Ashley have joined the cast.
20th Century Studios has scheduled the official release of the film for May 1, 2026 (May 12, 1405 AH) ; exactly twenty years after the release of the first part.
