Announcing the names of the animations of the National Short Film Festival Competition

The list of animated films in the national competition section of the 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival was published with a “rational and thought-provoking” approach and attracted attention.


According to the Boraq Hamim Art News Agency and citing the Information and Communications Headquarters of the 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival, the names of the animation films accepted in the national competition section of this cinematic event with the theme of “rationality and thoughtfulness” were announced. The festival, under the direction of Behrouz Shoaibi, will be held from October 17 to November 2, 1404 at the Iran Mall Cinema Campus in Tehran and is considered one of the most important artistic events in the country in the field of short films.

According to the announced schedule, 20 selected works will be present in the animation section of the national competition:

1. Standing on the Threshold , directed by Iman Abili from Tehran
2. Above the Clouds , by Mehdi Barqzdegan from Hamedan
3. BMW 2002, by Mirali Hosseini Asli from Tehran
4. Team of Legends , directed by Fatemeh Jafari and Fariba Kouhanjani from Isfahan
5. Chavuk , by Hezhir Asadi from Sanandaj (direct entry from the 71st Tabriz-Sahand Regional Festival of Young Cinema)
6. Red Flower Porcelain , by Roozbeh Shamshiri, Tehran
7. The Story of the Guard , by Mahboobeh Lakhaei and Maryam Lakhaei from Tehran
8. A Story for Mohsen , by Mojtaba Torki, from Tehran
9. In Praise of a Color , by Masoud Qodsieh from Tehran
10. In the Last Years of Life, by Minasadat Ayatollahi, Qom
11. Dog , directed by Sogand Vatankhah, from Sari
12. Cigar, by Ali Asghar Bagherzad, from Urmia
13. Red Scarf , by Meqdad Jafarzadeh, from Mahmoudabad
14. Cage , by Hamideh Metvalizadeh, from Isfahan
15. Birdwatchers , directed by Sara Alimoradi from Isfahan

According to the secretariat, the members of the selection and judging panels for this edition will be introduced at a special media meeting of the festival. The presence of these diverse works from different cities in the country is a testament to the dynamism and breadth of creativity in the field of Iranian animation.

The 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival, focusing on “intelligence and thoughtfulness,” has provided an important opportunity to showcase the country’s short cinema and animation capabilities. The selection of 20 works from various cities indicates the qualitative growth of Iranian animation and special attention to local talents. This geographical spread, in addition to introducing emerging artists, shows that Iranian animation has reached a stage where it can compete internationally.
